If you're playing Prediction Championship, you may have fallen victim to a glitch in our fixture feed, which meant that the Nottingham Forest vs Leeds Utd game on Sunday temporarily disappeared from the fixture list. Looking at the predictions that have been made, this has affected, at most, 20 people but if that's you, you could be missing out on vital points. Make sure you check your predictions over the weekend, and update for that game if necessary.
Apologies for any inconvenience.

Guess who's back?
Well, with the World Cup, we've hardly been away, but the new season is nearly upon us! Prediction Premiership (for the Premier League), Prediction Championship (for the Championship) and SuperScots (for the SPL) are all now LIVE at http://predictthescore.net.
You can set up your mini leagues, invite your friends and (if you're keen) make your predictions from now... all the action starts on August 6th when the Championship gets underway, with the top flight action in both England and Scotland following the week after. All the rules are under "How To Play" on the site... but you know the score by now(!)
Hope to see you this season - and good luck!

It's the first ever World Cup/Premier League Double! (although, to be fair, there aren't many places such a feat can be achieved). Yes.
Team Eamonn III have followed up their Prediction Premiership win by taking the second PTS World Cup crown as well!
Congratulations to Eamonn - just goes to show how important form is in this game...
Second place was taken by joint Golden Boot winner -
Invisible Bob (with an impressive 41 points, jointly held with 14h place
Mickchester), with PTS regular
V will rock u!!! taking third.
It's a shame we only get to do this every 4 years... but fear not, Prediction Premiership, Prediction Championship and SuperScots will all be back very very soon. Register and make your predictions from next weekend!
In the meantime, thanks to everyone who played - it's been a bumper turnout. It really means a lot to us that you lot enjoy the game. Keep playing, and we'll keep doing it!

We've had a few questions about this, so here's the definitive policy:
In the knock-out games, you need to predict the result at the end of extra time (if played).
However, penalty shoot-outs don't count!
* So if you predict 2-1 and the game finishes 2-1 at the end of 90 minutes you get 5 points.
* If you predict 2-1 and the game finishes 1-1 (or 0-0) at the end of 90 minutes, but is 2-1 at the end of extra time you get 5 points.
* If you predict 2-1 and the game finishes 1-1 (or 0-0) at the end of 90 minutes AND finishes 1-1 (or 0-0) at the end of extra time, it doesn't matter what the score is in the penalty shoot out, you'll only get 1 (or 0) points.

Congratulations to
k3v0n (Kev Gray) who triumphed on Saturday night, with a winning margin of 4 points. Ultimately it came down to who you thought would win -
MES QUE UN CLUB picked Bayern, whereas Kev sensibly plumped for Inter. Kev's been a PTS member since the start (he didn't have much option, he pretty much sat next to us in the office at the time) but this is his first victory - and a very well deserved one too!

Just a quick note for anyone who has not noticed - the PredictTheScore World Cup 2010 competition is now live!
It works broadly along the usual PTS lines, but with a few tweaks:
* You can predict game by game, as usual, but if want to you can predict the whole tournament in advance, and then sit back and watch the results come in
* You can pick 10 goalscorers for the whole of the group stage
* You can then reassess and pick another 5 for the knock-out stages
* Leaderboards, Manager of the Day and Mini Leagues will all run as usual
* No need to register - just log on as usual and get predicting
All the rules are at http://predictthescore.net/howtoplay/WC.php
It's the biggest football event there is - we hope you'll join us!

Thank you to everyone who came with PredictTheScore on our holidays this year...
For the first time ever, PTS ventured into Europe and took on two of the big continental leagues. And congratulations are due to
reza dashti - Viva La Liga champion and, erm,
reza dashti - Prediction Italia champion.
Yes, in a PTS first, fewer than 20 people had the stamina to get to the end of either competition, and one man has shown that he knows his Madrids from his Milans, his Genoas from his Gijons and his Barcelonas from his Bolognas. It was his gift for goalscorers that did it, as the same man claimed the Golden Boot in both competitions.
Coming close in Spain was
MES QUE UN CLUB - the only other predictor to make it over 1000 points and
Rossoneri, whilst runners up in Italy were
Rossoneri (again!) and... who's this?
Phillareal! Hooray - I never do as well as that in the Premier League.
Thanks to everyone who took part in our little European experiment... if anyone has any thoughts on whether we should repeat it next year feel free to post them below!

That's it! The end of the fifth season of Prediction Premiership has come, and whilst there will be a proper write-up in the Hall of Fame section very soon, it's time to hail the winners of this year's competition...
...in particular, this year's champion -
Team Eamonn III (Eamonn Geoghegan) who finished ahead by 12 points, thanks to his Golden Boot (suggesting a Chelsea-esque fondness for goalscoring?)
In second was
.STREV87....... - his third season in a row in the runners-up spot, followed by original PTS member
Boca Coidan, all the way from China.
Of course, we'll be back next year... but in the meantime, why not join us for the World Cup? Announcement coming very soon. Promise.

And so we come to the end of our first ever season 'North of the Border'... As with all of our competitions, there'll be a proper write-up in the Hall of Fame imminently.
Emerging victorious was
BRECHIN WIND (Mark Smith) who finished top in Game 1 by nearly 40 points, and finished ahead overall by 26. Congratulations!
Second place was claimed by
Mirren Buddies who also claimed the Golden Boot, which was enough to keep him ahead of
Happy days in third.
Thanks to everyone who played this season - especially those who kept going to the end! See you all for the World Cup next month?

This post should have been written last weekend, ideally, but I was away. There'll be a full write up of the first ever Prediction Championship season in the Hall Of Fame once I have some time to write it up...
But in the meantime, congratulations to the runaway winner, the mysterious cyborg predicting machine that is
Total Network Predictions (Predict-a-Bot), who comfortably racked up more Game 1 points than anyone else, and didn't do too badly with his goalscorers either.
Second was
Bamathinaikos, followed by Golden Boot winner
BRECHIN WIND.
Thanks to everyone who played - it was a bit of an experiment for us, and I think quite a successful one too. So we might well do it again next season... See you there!
